1. Acceptance of Terms
By using LankiAI ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
LankiAI is an AI-powered language learning application that provides:
- Vocabulary exercises generated using artificial intelligence
- Grammar practice and conjugation drills
- Gamification features (XP, streaks, achievements)
- Text-to-speech capabilities for pronunciation practice
- Progress tracking and learning analytics
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Registration
- You must have a Google account to sign in via OAuth
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
3.2 Account Responsibilities
- All activity under your account is your responsibility
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
- Do not share your account credentials
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 You MAY NOT:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Impersonate any person or entity
4.2 Content You Create:
- You retain ownership of content you submit (vocabulary, chat messages)
- You grant us a license to use, store, and process your content to provide the Service
- You represent that you have the right to share any content you submit
5. Subscription and Payments
5.1 Free Tier
- Limited to 15,000 tokens per new account
- Additional daily limits may apply
- Access to free-tier AI models with rate limits
5.2 Paid Plans

5.3 Payment Terms
- Payments are processed by Stripe
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled

- No refunds for partial months (prorated or otherwise)
- Failed payments may result in suspension of paid features
5.4 Token Usage
- Tokens are consumed by AI exercise generation
- Unused tokens do not roll over to the next billing period
- You can monitor token usage in your account dashboard
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Content
- LankiAI name, logo, and design are our property
- Generated exercises are our property (you have a license to use them)
- We retain rights to aggregate, anonymized learning data
6.2 Your Content
- You retain ownership of your vocabulary, user-generated content
- You grant us a perpetual, worldwide license to use your content to provide the Service
7. Third-Party Services
The Service uses third-party services including:
- Supabase: User authentication and database
- OpenRouter / OpenAI / Anthropic: AI exercise generation
- Stripe: Payment processing
- Netlify: Hosting and serverless functions
These services have their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- AI-generated content will be accurate or appropriate for your learning level
- Any errors in the Service will be corrected
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (IF ANY)
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LankiAI, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
11. Termination
11.1 By You
- You can delete your account at any time through the app settings
- Upon deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days
11.2 By Us
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
- We may terminate accounts that are inactive for more than 2 years
- We will provide notice before termination when possible
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which LankiAI operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
13.2 Arbitration
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the chosen arbitration body.
13.3 Class Action Waiver
You agree that any disputes shall be conducted on an individual basis, not as part of a class or representative action.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via:
- Email notification to the address associated with your account
- Notice when you next log in to the Service
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in effect.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LankiAI regarding your use of the Service.
