2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you sign up via Google OAuth, we receive your email address and profile name.
• Demographic Data (optional): When you first sign in, we optionally ask for your gender (Male / Female / Prefer not to say) and a display name. Used to: (1) suggest a text-to-speech voice default, (2) personalise transactional emails, and (3) understand our audience in aggregate. Both fields are optional — "Prefer not to say" and Skip are always honored — and you can change or remove them any time from your Profile.
• Vocabulary Data: Words you save, practice sessions, and learning progress.
• Settings: Your language preferences, difficulty level, and app settings.
• User Content: Any text, images, or other content you submit through our services.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: Exercises completed, time spent learning, gamification progress (XP, streaks, achievements).
• Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
• Cookies and Tracking: We use essential cookies for authentication and session management.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Third-Party Services: We use OpenAI/OpenRouter for AI exercise generation

4.2 Retention

• Account data is retained as long as your account is active
• You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time
• Deleted data is removed from our systems within 30 days

5. Information Sharing

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Share your vocabulary or learning data with advertisers
• Use your data for purposes unrelated to Lanki

5.2 We MAY Share Data With

• Service Providers: Cloud infrastructure (Netlify, Supabase), AI providers (OpenRouter) - bound by confidentiality agreements
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• JWT-based authentication with PKCE flow
• Secure password handling (we don't see your Google password)
• Regular security audits

Note: While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

14. Payment and Billing

Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. (polar.sh), which acts as the Merchant of Record for subscriptions and one-time purchases. Checkout, payment details and sales-tax handling are processed by Polar and its payment processors; we never see or store your card details. Your purchase is also governed by Polar's Checkout Buyer Terms.
